How to import a SRT file in AutoCaptions?

An SRT file (SubRip Subtitle file) is a standard subtitle format. It contains the caption text along with timestamps that define when each line appears and disappears in the video.
You can import an existing SRT file into AutoCaptions and use it in your project. Here’s how:

  1. Launch AutoCaptions
  2. Define Section & validate
  3. In the “Import Captions from SRT file” section, click on “Choose SRT file”
  4. Select your file and click on “Open Caption Editor

⚠️ If you import your own transcript, the word-by-word animations won’t be as precise as those generated directly by AutoCut.

When should you import an SRT file?

Importing an SRT is useful if:

  • You’ve already created or translated your captions elsewhere
  • You want to re-use captions from another project

This is especially helpful for multilingual content, corporate videos, or videos with a predefined script.

🆕 AutoCaptions now lets you automatically translate your captions. So there’s no need to import a file that’s already translated — just use the built-in translation feature!
