What to do if AutoCut runs slowly on your Mac ?

👉 If you're on Windows, follow this article instead.

If AutoCut feels slow or laggy on your Mac, there are two possible optimizations you can try.

1. How to disable UI animations

Just like on Windows, some Macs—especially older or less powerful ones—may run smoother without interface animations.

Here’s how to disable them in AutoCut :

  1. Open AutoCut in your editor (Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve).
  2. Go to Settings (⚙️ icon in the AutoCut panel).
  3. Find the option Disable UI animations.
  4. Toggle it on.

AutoCut will immediately run with fewer visual effects, reducing the load on your computer and speeding up the interface.

2. Check Rosetta settings on ARM-based Macs (M1, M2, etc.)

If you’re using a Mac with an ARM processor (such as M1, M1 Pro, M2, or newer), performance issues can also happen if AutoCut is opened using Rosetta. This isn’t necessary, since AutoCut is optimized for ARM, and can actually slow the app down.

How to check and fix it :

1. Open the Finder App
On your Mac, click on the Finder app (usually available in your Dock).

2. Go to the Applications Folder
In the left sidebar, select Applications and scroll to find the AutoCut app.

Select "AutoCut.app"

3. Access App Information
Right-click on the AutoCut app and select Get Info (or "Read Information" depending on your macOS language settings).

Access App information

4. Check Rosetta Option
In the information window, look for the checkbox "Open using Rosetta".

  • Make sure this box is unchecked.
  • If it is checked, uncheck it to ensure AutoCut uses the full performance of your ARM processor.

Uncheck "Rosetta" option

💡 Rosetta is a compatibility tool that helps apps designed for Intel processors run on ARM-based Macs. However, AutoCut is fully optimized for ARM processors, so using Rosetta is not necessary and can slow down performance. By disabling this option, you allow AutoCut to run natively on your Mac, which improves speed and responsiveness.

🔍 If the Rosetta option is missing

If you don’t see the Rosetta option in the information window, it means that the app is already running natively and this is not the cause of the slowdown.
