How to make my captions one word?

If you want dynamic, punchy subtitles (like TikTok or Reels style), you can display one word at a time in AutoCaptions.

Why use one-word captions?

One-word captions help:

  • Increase viewer retention
  • Make your content more dynamic
  • Highlight each word for stronger impact

How to enable one-word captions

In AutoCut, one-word captions are controlled through the Position & Size settings, specifically the Maximum Width.

Here's how to do it :

  1. Open AutoCaptions
  2. Select your audio language
  3. Open Caption Editor
  4. Go to "Position & Size"
  5. Adjust Maximum Width
  6. Adjust Font Size if needed

Reduce the Maximum Width to a very small value. This forces AutoCut to fit fewer words per line, down to one word per caption.
You can also increase the Font Size if multiple words still appear.

What does “Maximum Width” do?

Maximum Width defines how much horizontal space your captions can take on screen (as a percentage of the video width).

  • A large width → longer sentences on one line
  • A small width → shorter chunks (up to one word per line)

This is the key setting to control caption density and pacing.
