Recommended podcast setup for AutoCut Podcast

To get the most out of AutoCut Podcast, a clean and structured setup is key.

Here’s what an optimal configuration looks like — and why it works so well.

Podcast optimal configuration

This configuration corresponds to the following timeline in Premiere Pro (works the same way on DaVinci):

With these settings in AutoCut Podcast:

Settings AutoCut Podcast

Step 1: One microphone per speaker

Assign a dedicated microphone to each participant, each on its own audio track.
→ This allows AutoCut Podcast to accurately detect who's speaking and switch to the correct camera.

💡 If two speakers share a mic, AutoCut can't distinguish them. Only a wide shot would be used when either speaks.

Step 2: One camera per speaker (If possible)

Ideally, each speaker should have a dedicated camera. Here, Adrian, Alexandre, and Amélie each have a dedicated camera (V1, V2, and V3).
→ This enables precise and professional camera switching based on voice detection.

💡 Alexandre and Adrian could have shared a camera. AutoCut Podcast would then use that same camera whenever either of them spoke. Though less ideal, it would still work.

Step 3: Add a Wide Shot

A wide camera adds flexibility when multiple people speak at once or during long monologues. It keeps the edit dynamic. Here, the wide camera is in V4.

💡 No wide shot? You can create a virtual one using close-up cameras.

Following these guidelines ensures cleaner cuts, better pacing, and a smoother editing experience with AutoCut Podcast.
