How to set AutoCut Podcast ?

We detail the AutoCut Podcast settings for you so that you can more easily use it and fully benefit from its features.

Speakers

The Speakers setting allows you to define each podcast participant and associate them with a specific audio track. Here's how to do it:

  1. Add each participant by clicking on Add Speaker.
  2. Assign the correct audio track for each participant’s microphone.
  3. Set the speaker priority for each participant: choose between Normal, High, or Very High depending on how important their voice is in the conversation.

💡 There is no limit to the number of participants you can add.

Speakers

Speaker Priority

The Speaker Priority setting helps AutoCut decide which voices should take precedence when participants speak at the same time.

  • Normal – Default priority for standard contributors.
  • High – Use this for co-hosts or recurring guests who play a key role.
  • Very High – Ideal for the main host or the most important speaker of the show.

AutoCut uses this hierarchy to choose which voice to keep when multiple people are talking over each other, helping to maintain a clean and intelligible edit.

⚠️ Two participants can share the same audio track if they’re using the same microphone. However, for AutoCut Podcast’s automatic editing to function properly, you must have at least two distinct microphones recorded on separate audio tracks.

Cameras

Define the cameras used in your podcast. Each camera must be linked to a video track, and you need to specify which participants are visible on each shot.

Assign speakers to their camera

How to assign cameras

  1. For each video track, select the participants that appear in the frame.
  2. If a camera captures multiple participants at once (a wide shot), make sure to check all relevant participants for that camera.
  3. AutoCut will then automatically switch cameras based on who’s speaking and who’s visible.

💡 Make sure every participant is assigned to at least one camera, otherwise AutoCut won’t be able to show them when they speak.

Virtual Wide Shots

If you don’t have a real wide shot, you can simulate one by combining two close-up shots. This allows AutoCut to create a dynamic group shot using only your existing footage.

Save Your Presets (new!)

If you often edit podcasts with the same setup, you can save your configuration as a preset. This will store all your microphone and camera settings, so you don’t have to redo the setup every time.

How it works:
  • Set up your participants and assign their microphones.
  • Define which participants appear on each camera.
  • Click Save Current as preset to store this configuration.
  • Next time, just load your preset and you’re ready to go!

💡Perfect for podcast editors who work with recurrent guests or studio setups.

Camera Angle Switch Settings

This section lets you adjust how AutoCut Podcast automatically switches between camera angles, helping you create a smooth and engaging edit.
It includes three key settings:

Reaction Shots

When enabled, AutoCut will occasionally show participants who are not speaking, or a wide shot, to create a more natural and varied edit — just like in real-life conversations.

  • Enabled: Adds cutaways and reactions to improve pacing and realism.
  • Disabled: Focus stays only on the active speaker.

→ In this case, there is no maximum camera duration, and AutoCut will hold a shot as long as someone is speaking.

Shot Duration

This controls how often AutoCut switches between cameras.

Choose a preset that matches the style of your podcast:

  • Calm → Longer shots, ideal for relaxed or in-depth discussions
  • Paced → A natural flow between participants
  • Energetic → Quicker switches to keep energy high
  • Hyperactive → Very rapid cuts, best for fast-paced content

Then, set your Minimum Duration and Maximum Duration (in seconds):

  • Minimum Duration: Prevents AutoCut from switching too fast between shots.
  • Maximum Duration: Limits how long the same camera stays on screen, encouraging variety.

Example: If Alexandre speaks for 20 seconds and your max duration is 10 seconds, AutoCut may briefly cut to a wide shot before returning to him to keep the visual flow engaging.

Handling Unused Clips

Decide what to do with camera tracks that aren't used in the final cut:

  • Disable (recommended): Unused clips stay in the timeline but are turned off. Useful if you want to manually adjust the edit later.
  • Delete: Removes unused clips entirely to keep the timeline clean.

Advanced settings

You now have the option to enable or disable audio track cutting directly within AutoCut Podcast.
This gives you more flexibility when editing — especially if you prefer to handle audio manually or make final adjustments after the initial cut.
