# Why is AutoCut not opening on Windows?

If AutoCut does not open correctly on your Windows computer, this may be caused by a background process or a missing environment variable. Follow these steps to fix the issue:

###### 1. Close AutoCut from Task Manager

* Open the **Task Manager** (`Ctrl + Shift + Esc`).
* Look for **AutoCut** in the list of processes.
* Select it and click **End task**.

###### 2. Open Windows Explorer
* Click on the path bar and then write `%appdata%`

* In the **System variables** section, find the variable called **Path** 👉 If it doesn’t exist, create it.
