# How to use AutoChapters ?

[AutoChapters](https://www.autocut.com/en/autochapters/) automatically detects chapters from your audio and helps you structure your videos faster. You can then refine, edit, and export your chapters in just a few clicks.

# Step 1 - Launch AutoChapters & Define sections

Select the audio section to be analyzed by AutoChapters. You can choose from:
* **Entire timeline:** Analyze the full sequence
* **In/Out points:** Analyze a specific section
* **Selected clips:** Analyze only selected clips
This allows you to generate chapters only where you need them.

# Step 2 - Select audio language & Adjust parameters

Before generating chapters, select the language of your audio to improve detection accuracy.
You can also adjust additional parameters:
* **Chapters number:** Choose the number of chapters you want AutoChapters to generate, this helps guide the algorithm depending on your content. If you're unsure, we recommend using the default setting for best overall results.
* **Detection Fine-tuning:** When enabled, a text field appears where you can provide instructions to the algorithm (ex: *create chapters based on topic changes, short chapters for tutorial steps, focus on key ideas and important moments*).

You can also choose what AutoChapters should generate:
* **Timeline markers** in Premiere Pro
* **Exportable YouTube chapters**
You can enable one or both depending on your workflow.

# Step 3 - Edit & Refine chapters

Once chapters are generated, you can easily refine them to match your content and workflow.

###### Edit or Regenerate Titles
You can manually edit chapter titles directly, or click 'Regenerate Titles' to automatically generate new ones. With title style Instructions, you can customize: number of words, language, writing style, etc.

###### Merge & Split Chapters
* **Merge** allows you to combine multiple chapters together
* **Split** allows you to divide a chapter into smaller sections

###### Preview Chapters
Each chapter includes a thumbnail preview in the interface. Simply click on the thumbnail to quickly preview the generated chapter and verify that it matches your content.

# Step 4 - Export your chapters

If you're happy with the results, click 'Add Chapters**'**. AutoChapters will automatically add markers to your timeline at the correct positions. You can then modify these markers directly in Premiere Pro if needed, giving you full flexibility to refine your structure.

###### Export YouTube Chapters
AutoChapters also automatically generates a YouTube chapters file. You can find it in your AutoCut project folder:** AutoCut → Chapters → doc.txt**
This file is already formatted for YouTube, so you can simply copy and paste it into your video description.
