# How to choose and apply presets in Advanced Captions

A preset controls the composition, typography, visual effects and animation of your Advanced Captions. Choose which chunks it should affect before applying it.
## Apply one preset to all captions
1. Open the Advanced Captions editor with a transcript loaded. The preset library may open automatically after a new transcription.
2. Select all chunks using the selection controls.
3. Open Apply preset.
4. Browse Public presets or your Private presets.
5. Select one preset, such as Orange Script, then click Apply 1 preset to the selected chunks.
6. Play several parts of the preview to check short and long sentences.
Selecting one preset gives the selected chunks the same reusable design. Their wording and timing still come from the transcript.
## Apply a preset to only part of the transcript
Select the relevant chunks instead of selecting all. Apply the preset to that selection. To change one chunk, use its Choose preset or Change preset action.
Check the selected-chunk count before confirming. Applying a preset to a selection does not mean it is applied to the whole transcript.
## Use several presets
The library supports selecting multiple presets. When the confirmation says Apply presets randomly, AutoCut distributes the selected presets across the selected chunks. Choose just one preset when you need a consistent style rather than a random distribution.
## Favorites and private presets
Use the favorite control to keep useful presets easy to find. Public and Private separate the shared library from your own saved designs. Editing a public preset and saving your own version creates a private design; it does not update the public library for everyone.
After changing presets, preview the affected chunks and import the updated result into Premiere Pro.
