# Does AutoCut work locally or online ? Are my files safe ?

AutoCut works **both locally and externally**, depending on the feature you’re using.

* Some processes (like timeline analysis or local rendering) run directly on your computer
* Others (such as transcription or AI-based detection) may require cloud processing to ensure better performance and speed

However, **your data is safe** :

* All files sent to our cloud are **automatically deleted** right after the process is completed.
* We never store your files longer than necessary.

So you can use AutoCut with peace of mind — your content stays secure.
